Most of our clients are very able painters who find themselves short on time.  That was the case with these clients.  The house had to be “show ready” for the market in less than a week and they found themselves with a longer “to do” list than they had time to accomplish.  We were called in to give all the trim a fresh coat of glossy white paint.

We love baby nurseries!! You can take soft, cozy pastels and apply them liberally with wonderful results. This baby nursery was no exception; we started with walls that were a yellow-beige and supercharged them with soft lime green. The ceiling got a fresh coat of light pink which gave the room a fantastic glow. The results? A little girls room fit for a princess.

TIP #3 LOOK UPIF YOU WANT TO ACHIEVE A PROFESSIONAL DECORATOR LOOK IN YOUR ROOM, DON’T FORGET TO PAINT THE CEILING.  IF YOU’RE AFRAID OF HAVING TOO MUCH COLOR, PICK THE LIGHTEST SHADE OF YOUR WALL COLOR ON THE COLOR SWATCH.

Our son decided that he no longer liked the green paint in his “baby” room and asked us to give him a “big boy” makeover.  We gave him the opportunity to choose his own bedroom color and he chose a VERY dark blue.  Knowing that the dark blue would make his tiny room feel like a cave, I decided to give his room a striped treatment.  I started with a light blue base color and incorporated the dark blue paint color into a series of stripes running along three walls.  The stripes were a graduated progression of dark blue to very light blue with a narrow bright green stripe to break them up.  The result was wonderful!  Our son was very pleased and proud of himself for his good color choice.

TIP #2KIDS RULE!WHEN PAINTING YOUR OLDER CHILD’S ROOM, MAKE SURE TO ASK THEM WHAT COLOR THEY WOULD LIKE.  IF THE COLOR THEY CHOOSE IS NOT SUITABLE TO PAINT A WHOLE ROOM IN, CONSIDER PAINTING AN ACCENT WALL OR ADDING A FEW SMALL STRIPES IN THEIR COLOR.  THIS WILL GIVE THEM A SENSE OF OWNERSHIP OVER THE DESIGN PROCESS, AND THEY WILL BE MUCH MORE EXCITED ABOUT THE FINAL RESULTS.

After taking our house off the market, we decided to give our bathroom a dramatic makeover.  We opted for an oversized diamond pattern.  The diamonds gave the bathroom much more character and made the otherwise cramped space feel twice it’s size.  We chose to paint the diamonds on only two of the walls, keeping the pattern from swallowing the room up whole.  The other two walls got a fresh coat of linen white to brighten the room.  We are very pleased with the finished product:

TIP #1STOP THE BLEEDING –  NOTHING CAN RUIN A SPECIALTY PAINT DESIGN LIKE BLEED MARKS. WHEN PAINTING A PATTERN THAT REQUIRES A SHARP LINE FOR THE FINISHED PRODUCT, SUCH AS DIAMONDS AND STRIPES; RUN A SMALL AMOUNT OF GLAZING LIQUID OVER THE EDGES OF YOUR TAPE TO FORM A SEAL. THIS WILL RESULT IN A PERFECT LINE EVERY TIME!

This client had a love of tropical flowers and wanted to incorporate them into her new Master Bath/Sitting Room.  We decided on painting an oversized Hibiscus on the wall behind the chaise lounge and a sprawling Orchid limb that stretched from one corner of the vanity wall to the other.  I first had the client show me some images she liked, and then I got to work sketching out the mural.  Once we decided on the final design, we set to work painting.  Here are some images of the project:
